History of the organization
The Indian organization Ladakh Society for Traditional Medicines (LSTM) was founded in the year 2000 by a group of Ladakhis united in their concern over the problems facing Tibetan medicine (locally known as “amchi medicine” or sowa rigpa) and its practitioners in contemporary Ladakh, Northwest India. Working in the beginning as the local implementing partner of Nomad RSI, LSTM progressively increased its autonomy in terms of decision-making and project management and registered as a local NGO in 2002 (reg. No: 4230-S, State of J&K – FCRA reg. No: 152710034). LSTM is today an autonomous entity and designs, implements and evaluates its own activities, while maintaining a close partnership with Nomad RSI.
Histoire de l’organisation
L’association indienne Ladakh Society for Traditional Medicines (LSTM) a été créée en 2000 par un groupe de Ladakhis sensibilisés par le devenir de la médecine tibétaine (dénommée localement « médecine amchi » ou Sowa Rigpa) dans leur région située au nord-ouest de l’Inde himalayenne. Etant à l’origine la branche opérationnelle de Nomad RSI au Ladakh, LSTM a progressivement renforcé son autonomie dans la prise de décision et la gestion de projet. Elle fut enregistrée en 2002 comme ONG auprès du gouvernement indien (reg. No: 4230-S, State of J&K, FCRA reg. No : 152710034). LSTM est aujourd’hui une entité autonome définissant, mettant en place et évaluant ses propres activités, tout en maintenant un partenariat étroit avec Nomad RSI.
